Recently, the esGrid grid-connected energy storage system independently developed by Liaoning Sieyuan was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation in Mongolia,marking the birth of Mongolia's first grid-connected energy storage project. The successful operation of this equipment effectively solved the instability problem of the local power system and brought stable and reliable power supply to local production and life.

The project area is located in the arid desert area of ​​Mongolia, where electricity resources are scarce. Previously, it relied on a 30MWp photovoltaic system for power supply.  Due to the volatility and intermittency of photovoltaic power generation, the stability of the power system is seriously affected, and power rationing occurs frequently in winter. In response to this challenge, Liaoning Sieyuan has designed a smart energy storage solution that integrates hardware and software: a 20MW/80MWh grid-connected energy storage system, coupled with an energy storage EMS system based on the Super5000 integrated platform . The system effectively smooths out the fluctuations in photovoltaic power generation, and can also operate off-grid and achieve black start in the event of a grid failure, ensuring the smooth operation of the 10kV power system.

Networking technology "0" delay response

The esGrid grid-type energy storage system adopts Liaoning Sieyuan's original cluster-controlled AC/DC integrated design, which greatly improves the system's available capacity, efficiency and battery life. The independently developed grid-type PCS can actively provide support for grid changes with "0" delay to ensure safe and stable operation of the grid; in the event of a grid failure, it can achieve "0" voltage self-start to drive voltage recover.

“4+1” safety design

The esGrid site-level energy storage system of Liaoning Sieyuan adopts four risk isolation designs, namely thermal insulation isolation between cells, liquid-electric isolation of Packs, electrical isolation between clusters, and physical isolation in the cabin, combined with the intelligent early warning system of the entire station, which can minimize the risk of fire.At the same time, the energy storage system has passed a series of international safety tests such as UL9540A, UL1973, IEC62619, and IEC62477, and won the German TUVRheinland safety certification. This fully demonstrates the excellent performance .

Smart Energy Management System

In terms of system operation and maintenance, the energy storage EMS system realizes communication with local PCS, BMS, auxiliary systems, etc., and performs real-time datacollection and monitoring (SCADA) of various components of the energy storage system; in addition, EMS also effectively controls the output of the energy storage system and achieves steady-state balance by analyzing the photovoltaic output and load changes. The customized human-machine interface facilitates customers to remotely monitor the operating status and output curve of the entire system, greatly improving the on-site operation and maintenance efficiency.
